Steve Young

Steve Young quarterbacked the San Francisco 49ers to a Super Bowl XXIX championship, earning Super Bowl MVP honors while throwing a record six touchdown passes in that game. A two-time NFL MVP and Pro Football Hall of Famer (inducted 2005), he is regarded as one of the most efficient passers of his era.

In 1993, while still an active player, Young founded the Forever Young Foundation to support children facing significant physical, emotional, and financial challenges. The foundation has since built “Sophie's Places” music therapy spaces and “Forever Young Zones” recreational areas inside children's hospitals across the country, and expanded its “8 to 80 Zones” technology and gaming labs into underserved communities. Its work also extends internationally through Engage Now Africa, supporting schools and health and educational programs for African youth.

Westcoast Sports Associates honored Steve Young with the Roy Firestone Award in 2005, recognizing both his Hall of Fame career and more than three decades of work supporting children in crisis.
