Hank Aaron

Hank Aaron spent 23 seasons in Major League Baseball, breaking Babe Ruth's all-time home run record in 1974 amid intense racial hostility and going on to retire with 755 career home runs, a record that stood for 33 years. A 25-time All-Star, Aaron was inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 1982 and remained one of the sport's most respected statesmen for decades after his playing career ended.

In 1995, Aaron and his wife, Billye, founded the Hank Aaron Chasing the Dream Foundation to support young people with limited opportunities in pursuing their goals. The foundation's mission evolved over time to focus heavily on scholarships for Historically Black Colleges and Universities through its “4 for 4” endowment program, and included a multimillion-dollar grant to the Morehouse School of Medicine — building a philanthropic legacy that Aaron often said he wanted to be remembered for as much as his home runs.

Hank Aaron passed away in January 2021 at age 86. Westcoast Sports Associates honored him with the Roy Firestone Award in 2006.
