George Foreman

George Foreman won Olympic gold in 1968 before going on to become a two-time world heavyweight boxing champion, famously reclaiming the title in 1994 at age 45 to become the oldest heavyweight champion in history. He was inducted into the International Boxing Hall of Fame in 2003 and later became a hugely successful entrepreneur as the face of the George Foreman Grill.

In 1984, Foreman used his own retirement savings to build the George Foreman Youth and Community Center in Houston's East Aldine area, an idea championed by his brother Roy to teach young people boxing, discipline, and life skills. When the center ran short on funds in 1986, Foreman came out of retirement and eventually reclaimed the heavyweight title in part to keep supporting it. The Foreman Charitable Foundation went on to quietly fund cancer research, educational scholarships, and emergency relief efforts for decades.

George Foreman passed away in March 2025 at age 76. Westcoast Sports Associates honored him with the Roy Firestone Award in 2015.
