WSA Honors Jack Nicklaus Westcoast Sports Associates (WSA) hosted the 12th Annual Roy Firestone Awards Dinner and Gala, honoring golf legend Jack Nicklaus, on Sunday, October 28, 2007. The event, held at the Omni Hotel in downtown Los Angeles, was WSA's most successful event to date, and set new records in dinner and silent and live auction revenues. Past honorees have included Arnold Palmer, Hank Aaron, Steve Young, Terry Bradshaw, Cal Ripken, Jr., Howie Long, Wayne Gretzky, Sugar Ray Leonard, John Wooden, Jim Brown and Roy Firestone. Proceeds from the Roy Firestone Dinner and Gala will go to several Los Angeles and Orange County recreation centers funded by WSA, as well as to a number of other programs for at-risk Southern California youth. These include after-school programs in partnership with Team Prime Time, Pepperdine Sports Camps in conjunction with the Salvation Army Red Shield Program, Hollenbeck Police Athletic League, LA Scores and scholarships to sports camps for inner-city Los Angeles and Orange County children. WSA Speaker Series WSA is excited to announce that we also hosted our second installation of the new "WSA Speaker Series," a social event for WSA's members and potential members with a prominent sports figure. Los Angeles Lakers assistant coach Kurt Rambis headlined our November 28, 2007 event at the 900 Club in Manhattan Beach. It was great to hear Coach Rambis' insight on the Lakers and the NBA, as well as to interact with him in such an intimate setting. WSA's inaugural Speaker Series event featured Los Angeles Clippers Coach Mike Dunleavy in March 2007. Stay tuned for WSA's exciting Speaker Series evenings in 2008!
