![]() LA Scores LA Scores was founded in 2002 to address the need for quality after-school programs in the Palms area, one of Los Angeles' more socio-economically under-served communities. LA Scores provides a safe after-school alternative for the children in this area, where youth centers, libraries and parks are absent. LA Scores currently serves 240 children ages eight to fourteen at the Charnock Road, Braddock and Palms public elementary schools and Palms Middle School. WSA provided funding to LA Scores for a summer program in 2007 and 2008 that combined soccer, writing and community-based service projects for some of the middle school students who participated in the after-school program during the academic year. WSA's funding helped cover transportation costs, registration fees for soccer tournaments, service project supplies and coach stipends. WSA is excited to work with LA Scores to help provide innovative athletic programs to the underprivileged youth of Southern California.
