Parks Program/Los Angeles County Since its initial founding, WSA has funded operating shortfalls between program registration fees and actual program costs (including uniforms and trophies for all participants) for hundreds of children in the following parks in the City of Los Angeles: Jim Gilliam Recreation Center in South Los Angeles, Toberman Recreation in the Pico/Union area, El Sereno Recreation Center in Highland Park, Hollywood Recreation Center, Oakwood Recreation Center in Venice, Central Park Recreation Center in Central Los Angeles, William Nickerson Recreation Center in Watts, Elysian Valley Recreation Center, Montecito Recreation Center and Garcia Recreation Center. WSA's funding programs have been structured as operating shortfall payments to the park's sports program accounts or as scholarships for specific participants. The sports programs funded in these parks have included flag football, boys and girls winter basketball and summer basketball, boys and girls baseball, summer sports camps, and boys and girls soccer.
