Future Stars Basketball Camp
From 2000 to 2009, WSA has sponsored and sent up to 175 kids each year from the L.A. and Orange County park districts to four-day basketball camps in Los Angeles and Orange Counties. These camps offered boys and girls between the ages of 8 and 17 the opportunity to improve their basketball skills and learn good sportsmanship in a structured and supportive environment. The participants were supervised and coached by a roster of numerous local college and high school basketball coaches, with the emphasis not only on individual skills but team cooperation.
The attendees were recruited from the various recreation centers throughout the city's Youth Sports Program who normally would not have had the financial resources to attend on their own. Feedback from our participants was always positive, expressing their appreciation from this rigorous four-day experience.
